The country and hip-hop artist, known for his emotional storytelling, opened up about the affair during his appearance on the Human School Podcast on October 21, calling it \u201cone of the worst moments of my adulthood.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t talk about this publicly at all,\u201d he began. \u201cBut one of the worst moments of my adulthood was when I had an affair on my wife.\u201d The 40-year-old singer, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, shared that the decision to stray came from the influence of the people he surrounded himself with at the time.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was the first time that I was like, \u2018I really can\u2019t get this right at all. I know I\u2019m in love with this woman,\u2019\u201d he continued. \u201cIt just really, really, really blew me back.\u201d<\/p>\n
Despite the pain, Jelly Roll revealed that the couple put in significant work to repair their relationship. \u201cI did a lot of work to repair that relationship,\u201d he said. \u201cThe repair has been special. And we\u2019re stronger than we could have ever been.\u201d<\/p>\n
He admitted that while he wished their story had unfolded without an affair, he\u2019s proud of where they are today. \u201cI wish our story never had that chapter,\u201d he confessed, \u201cbut I\u2019m proud of who we are now.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jelly Roll, who shares daughter Bailee Ann, 17, and son Noah, 9, from previous relationships, acknowledged that his behavior mirrored the people around him. \u201cI was hanging around a bunch of people that were cheating on their wives,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen I was doing cocaine, I was hanging around a bunch of people doing cocaine. When I was drinking a lot, I was hanging around a lot of people that were drinking a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n
He reflected on his tendency to hold on to toxic friendships out of loyalty, saying, \u201cI used to be proud of long-standing friendships just because they had a number attached to them. Horrible humans. But I would just be proud to say, \u2018That dude\u2019s been with me 12 years.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
Now, both Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo, whose real name is Alyssa DeFord, are intentional about surrounding themselves with people who uplift and inspire them. \u201cI wanted to be friends with people I wanted to be like,\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n
While Bunnie has rarely addressed Jelly\u2019s affair directly, she once hinted at it while reflecting on their brief 2018 breakup. In a 2024 TikTok post, she wrote, \u201cWho knew that us breaking up in 2018, me moving back to Vegas & you coming to get me back – would have put us on this wild journey called life. We finally committed to each other & did everything we promised each other the first night in 2016.\u201d<\/p>\n
She continued with a heartfelt reflection on their journey, writing, \u201cOur castle in the sand had to crumble so we could rebuild on solid ground. I yuh you so mushhh.\u201d<\/p>\n
